I had worked with Innovatemap, a UX consultation group, on creating a handoff app called Amplify. The purpose of this handoff is to connect new users to the purdue underground music scene, as well as encourage existing users to join new groups, forming new connections.
Through various types of collecting data, we had found a few issues within purdue underground music. There was a lack of information, communication, as well as discoverability. We had also completed a workshop with instagram users and expert concert goers, informing us that they both have different views on the prioritization of features. This led us to create a handoff instead of a new app. With Instagram already being so robust and working for band members, the handoff would allow us to keep that and only add to the experience by having the handoff connected, enhancing available information, communication between fans, and discoverability of other bands.

Projects can and a lot of times will pivot during the design process! It is important to keep that in mind and make sure you are keeping your stakeholders updated on why you are making these design decisions.
This was my first semester where we had access to multiple people we could interview and do user testing on. This showed me the importance of user testing and how doing so can solidify your product!
Workshops are very effective at getting a lot of feedback from multiple participants, and getting it quickly. Having multiple tasks for participants to complete will give your team a lot of insight moving forward.
